The UbuntuCare Africa, a digital health platform designed to connect citizens with healthcare providers and essential health services through technology is set to help the government expand quality healthcare services in communities across the 774 local governments of the federation.
The initiative co-founded by Dr. Chukwunonimem Michael Ike , and Dr. Jemchang Yildam Fabong, complements the efforts of federal and state governments to strengthen primary healthcare and advance Universal Health Coverage by extending access to healthcare information, consultations, referrals and follow-up care, particularly in underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
A statement issued yesterday by Michael Ike, Co-Founder/Chief Executive Officer of UbuntuCarre, said through its integrated digital and community-based healthcare network, UbuntuCare seeks to support preventive care, early diagnosis and continuity of treatment at the grassroots level.
Speaking on the vision behind the initiative Michael Ike, said the platform was developed to help close persistent gaps in healthcare access by leveraging technology and community-based partnerships.
According to him, “Nigeria has made significant investments in strengthening primary healthcare, but millions of people still face barriers in accessing timely and affordable care. “UbuntuCare is designed to support existing healthcare structures by connecting citizens with trusted providers and helping them navigate the healthcare system more easily, regardless of where they live.”
He noted that UbuntuCare Africa envisions a future in which access to quality primary healthcare is not determined by geography, social status, internet connectivity or income pattern, adding that company aims to contribute to a healthcare system where individuals and communities can access dependable, affordable and coordinated care closer to where they live and work.
“The organisation is positioning itself as a strategic infrastructure partner for patients, healthcare professionals, pharmacies, health insurers, development organisations, governments and private-sector stakeholders seeking to improve healthcare access, utilisation and outcomes across the country,” the statement added.
UbuntuCare Africa, according to the statement, will ramp up support for Nigeria’s health sector by expanding access to essential health services, and work with healthcare providers, community stakeholders and relevant institutions to strengthen last-mile healthcare delivery and support the goal of ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to all Nigerians.
