Some residents of Kano State who participated in an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally have protested the N3,000 allegedly paid to them after the event, saying the amount was insufficient to cover their transportation expenses.
The aggrieved residents, some of whom spoke in Hausa, expressed frustration over the payment, with one participant saying some supporters had to borrow money to cover their transport costs before attending the rally.
The development followed a political mobilisation by the APC in Kano, where the party inaugurated a support structure for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
In footage from the event, some supporters wearing APC-branded shirts were seen questioning the amount allegedly given to them after participating in the rally.
One of the protesters, identified as Shuaibu, said some participants spent between N1,000 and N1,500 on transportation to the venue, only to receive N3,000 afterwards.
“If this is how the journey would be, we will not support again. You can’t call us to Kano. You did not give birth to us,” Mr Shuaibu said.
“We came out since 7 a.m. Some spent N1,000, some spent N1,500, and we gave you N3,000. Before we return, we borrow money. If this is what is going to happen (in the future), we will not be part of this campaign again. We supported you fully. We will not be going again.”
