In a post shared on X, the state government questioned when Obi would quit his presidential campaign, referring to his previous statement that he would stop campaigning if it was proven that he left Anambra in debt.
The government also alleged that Obi left office with outstanding arrears and accused him of breaking his promise concerning workers’ salaries.

“He vowed to quit the presidential race if proven he left Anambra in debt. As governor, he vowed to resign if workers weren’t paid on time. He broke both. He left office in 2014 with heavier arrears. He deceived people. He is LIAR!!”
The renewed criticism comes amid an ongoing dispute over the financial obligations allegedly inherited from Obi’s administration.
Obi has previously rejected claims that he left Anambra with unpaid salaries, pensions, gratuities or liabilities to contractors for completed and certified projects. He has also challenged the state government to provide evidence supporting its allegations.
