“Who is Obi? Igbo person can never become Nigeria’s president” — Police officer vows in viral video
An unidentified police officer has come under scrutiny after appearing in a video making controversial comments about Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows the officer making comments suggesting that Obi cannot become Nigeria’s president because he is Igbo.
Officer questions Obi’s chances
The officer also questioned Obi’s age and claimed that even if he emerged victorious in an election, he might not be able to complete a full presidential term.
While discussing the 2027 presidential election, the officer described the contest as one between President Bola Tinubu and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar. He also called for Obi to be removed from the race.
‘Igbo can never become Nigerian President’
In the video, the officer alleged that an Igbo person could never be allowed to become president, while making other derogatory comments about Obi and his supporters.
He said, “Igbo can never become Nigerian President. No way. The person will turn Abuja into the Yahoo office, they will use you for ritual.”
The officer further claimed that Obi would face obstacles even if he won the election.
“Even if he (Peter Obi) wins, oga (Tinubu) will use money to deal with him, he won’t enter the seat. He will waste his money and strength. All the votes he will get from Igbo land will become useless,” he said.
Officer says election is between Tinubu and Atiku
He added, “Who is Obi? A small child. The election is Atiku versus Tinubu. Kick Obi out of the race.”
The officer concluded by questioning whether an Igbo candidate could become president.
“Who will give Igbo man a chance to become President of this country? No Igbo man or woman can become President of this nation,” he said.
