It was a colourful gathering of various ethnic groups in Kaduna, who had come together to rally and support Gov Uba Sani‘s re-election come 2027.
Speaking at the rally the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship Candidate in Kaduna State, Comrade Jerry Adams, said the inclusive governance style of Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive governance style has given non-indigenes a sense of belonging and earned the administration the support of residents ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adams said Governor Uba Sani has demonstrated that he is a governor for all, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or place of origin, through the equitable distribution of appointments and development projects across the three senatorial districts.
He made the remarks at the mega rally of the Kaduna State Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group, held in support of Governor Uba Sani and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress.
The rally, organised under the theme “United for Inclusivity, Progress and Good Governance,” set off from Kigo Road Primary School, which is in the heart of Kaduna metropolis,to the APC head office at NEPA Roundabout, bringing together members of diverse ethnic communities residing in the state.
Addressing the gathering, Adams commended participants for walking from Kigo Road to the venue despite the heat and other commitments, describing their presence as a demonstration of solidarity with the governor.
He said Governor Uba Sani would have loved to attend the rally personally but was unable to do so due to other responsibilities of governance, adding that he, Jerry Adams, was mandated to represent him and to appreciate the supporters.
Adams, a former chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, said his relationship with Kaduna State had been affected by several issues before 2023, and the situation got better after Uba Sani assumed office on May 29, 2023.
According to him, the governor, after taking the oath of office, pledged to govern all residents irrespective of background.
“He was going to be a governor for Muslims. He was going to be a governor for Christians. He was going to be a governor for the Igbo, the Yoruba, the Nupe, the Gbagyi, the Fulani, the Hausa, the Idoma and all other ethnic groups. He was going to be a governor for all,” Adams said.
He said the governor has, in the past three years, demonstrated commitment to that pledge through his policies, the composition of government, and the distribution of development projects.
Adams noted that the presence of non-indigenes in the state cabinet is evidence of the administration’s inclusive approach. At the same time, projects are being executed across Kaduna North, Central, and South Senatorial Districts.
He added that the administration has not placed undue pressure on taxpayers or forced businesses to close over tax issues.
“We did not put pressure on taxpayers. We did not increase taxes in any form. We did not go out to force people to close their businesses because of tax issues,” he said.
He further assured non-indigenes living and doing business in Kaduna, particularly in Kaduna South, that their properties are safe, saying the administration has not undertaken indiscriminate demolitions
“Your properties are safe. Your business is safe,” he said.
Adams called on non-indigenes and other residents to mobilise their families, friends, and communities to support Governor Uba Sani’s re-election bid in 2027 and also support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He assured them that, if re-elected, the administration would deliver more development across the state.
“What you have seen so far is going to be just a tip of the iceberg. We will see more development in Kaduna South. We will see more development in Kaduna Central. We will see more development in Kaduna North Senatorial District,” he said.
He thanked participants for their solidarity with Governor Uba Sani, the APC, and President Tinubu, urging them to sustain their support for the administration.
