Troops of the Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA, have destroyed a terrorist hideout in Anambra State and recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition.

The Nigerian Army shared the details on its official handle on Friday.

The operation was carried out by troops of 185 Battalion with the Anambra Vigilante Group after three people were abducted around the Osakwa General Area of Ihiala Local Government Area. The troops rescued all three victims.

On October 1, 2026, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper identified as Sunday Obi.

Information he gave during questioning led them to a syndicate camp at Abator in Ogbaru Local Government Area, across the Isieke waterside.

The troops used canoes to cross the waterways and reach the hideout.

They engaged the terrorists, who ran away with gunshot wounds.

Items recovered include two AK-47 rifles with magazines, three pump-action guns and three locally made Dane guns.

Troops also picked up 62 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 149 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, two cartridges and materials believed to be meant for making improvised explosive devices.

Other things found in the camp were a solar generator, power bank, car battery, two motorcycle batteries, two solar panels and two mobile phones.

The Army said the items give more insight into the supply network behind kidnapping and other crimes in the area.

It added that follow-up operations are on to catch the fleeing suspects, their collaborators, suppliers and other helpers.

The Army said Operation UDO KA will keep working with other security agencies and local stakeholders to break up criminal networks and protect communities across the South East.
