Dangote Refinery cuts diesel price to N1,700 per litre

Dangote Refinery has reduced the gantry price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, by N80 per litre, bringing the price down to N1,700 per litre.

The new price took effect on Wednesday, according to a price template issued by the refinery to its customers.

The latest reduction represents a decrease from the previous price of N1,780 per litre and places Dangote’s diesel below the current landing cost of imported AGO.

Data from the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN), contained in its petroleum products price bulletin issued on October 5, 2026, showed that imported diesel had a landing cost of between N1,775 and N1,785 per litre.

This means Dangote Refinery’s diesel is currently between N75 and N85 per litre cheaper than imported AGO.

The latest price adjustment brings the refinery’s diesel closer to import parity, potentially increasing the competitiveness of locally refined diesel in the Nigerian market.

The reduction comes amid movements in global crude oil prices. At the time of reporting, West Texas Intermediate crude was trading at about $89 per barrel, while Brent crude stood at approximately $101 per barrel.

Dangote Refinery has continued to adjust the prices of its petroleum products in response to changes in crude oil prices and market conditions.
