Ondo Crash: ADC Demands Audit Of Military Aircraft Maintenance Funds

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for an audit of defence maintenance spending following the fatal Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The opposition party said the crash should trigger scrutiny of how funds allocated for the maintenance of military aircraft are released and utilised.
The aircraft, which was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos, crashed near the naval base in Igbokoda on Monday, killing all 25 people on board, comprising 20 passengers and five crew members.
President Bola Tinubu has ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the incident as “tragic and unfortunate” and commiserated with the families of the victims.
The party said the crash had renewed concerns over what it described as poor implementation of defence budgets, particularly funds earmarked for the maintenance of military equipment.
It urged the authorities to examine the funding and implementation of military aircraft maintenance programmes to determine whether allocated resources were properly released and spent.
