Uba Sani Celebrates Speaker Abbas at 61, Hails His Leadership, Nationalism

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has felicitated the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, GCON, on the occasion of his 61st birthday, describing him as a distinguished son of Kaduna and a leader whose scholarship, humility and commitment to public service continue to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.
In a statement issued to mark the milestone, Governor Sani, on behalf of the government and people of Kaduna State, described Abbas as a “thoroughbred leader, a gentleman of uncommon grace and a grassroots politician” whose enduring connection with the people is built on accessibility, empathy and faithful representation.
The governor said Abbas’ representation of Zaria Federal Constituency and his wider contributions to Kaduna State and Nigeria had earned him the trust and affection of the people.
“Your immense following rests on trust earned through accessibility, empathy and faithful representation. The affection you command reflects the consistency with which you have listened, served and upheld the dignity of those who entrusted you with their hopes,” Sani said.
He also praised Abbas for carrying his heritage as Iyan Zazzau with distinction while embracing the broader responsibilities of national leadership as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
According to the governor, Abbas is a core nationalist whose commitment to Nigeria transcends sectional considerations, adding that his ability to build consensus across political, ethnic and religious divides reflects the importance of inclusive leadership in a diverse country.
Sani further described Abbas as “one of the finest Speakers to have presided over the House of Representatives since Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999,” citing his calm authority, legislative experience and respect for his colleagues.
He said Abbas’ leadership had contributed to stability, cooperation and purposeful deliberation in the House, while promoting institutional responsibility and legislation responsive to citizens’ aspirations.
The governor also commended the Speaker’s support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that Abbas had provided legislative backing for reforms aimed at national renewal, economic opportunity and improved welfare.
Sani described Abbas as a dear brother, trusted ally and “generous team player,” stressing that their partnership in efforts to restore Kaduna State’s glory and pride remained a source of encouragement.
“Our partnership in the onerous but joyful task of restoring Kaduna State’s glory and pride remains a source of encouragement,” the governor said.
“Together, we are working to renew Kaduna’s promise as the soul and capital of Northern Nigeria, strengthening unity, widening opportunity and ensuring that progress reaches our communities.”
The governor expressed appreciation for Abbas’ counsel, solidarity and commitment to the people of Kaduna State, while praying for his continued good health, wisdom, strength and many more years of fruitful service.
“Happy 61st birthday, Mr. Speaker, my dear brother. May the years ahead bring fulfilment and abundant grace,” Sani added.
