A helicopter crash in Nepal has killed an Indian national.
Vasanth Kumar Balaramaramadu, 47, died when two helicopters collided while landing at Pheriche, in Solukhumbu district, at about 8.11am local time.
One of the helicopters belonged to Fishtail Air and the other to Air Dynasty.
Police say Balaramaramadu was on the Fishtail Air helicopter.
Shailesh Krishna Patel, a 49 year old Indian origin resident of New Zealand, was also on that aircraft.
He was badly hurt and was flown to Mediciti Hospital in Kathmandu.
Both pilots, Rabindra Prajapati of Fishtail Air and Prajwal KC of Dynasty Air, were injured and have been taken to Kathmandu for treatment.
Balaramaramadu’s body was taken to a hospital in Lukla.
Police have not yet confirmed how many people were on board the two helicopters.
Pheriche is on the trail to Everest Base Camp.
Helicopters are widely used in Nepal to carry tourists, climbers and supplies, and to fly out sick or injured people.
But the country’s rough terrain and fast changing weather make flying risky.
