Hamas calls for Israel to implement first phase of Gaza ceasefire

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas called on Sunday for Israel to be compelled to implement the terms of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, as a step toward launching serious dialogue on the issues of the second phase.
According to a statement, the call came during meetings held by the movement with mediators and Palestinian factions in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
Hamas said: “Last week, the movement’s delegation in Cairo held a number of meetings and discussions with mediators and Palestinian factions to work on completing the implementation of all the terms of the first phase, as stipulated in the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement. The Zionist occupation has not adhered to most of its commitments under the agreement, and has continued its violations on a daily basis.”
The Sharm El-Sheikh ceasefire agreement for Gaza was signed in October 2025 under Egyptian, American, Qatari, and Turkish auspices.

On Tuesday, the government media office in Gaza said that Israel had committed 2,400 violations of the ceasefire agreement during the six months since it came into effect on 10th October, including killings, arrests, the blockade, and starvation.
Hamas added: “We have dealt positively with the dialogues and discussions that have taken place, and we affirm our commitment to continued communication and coordination with the mediators to reach an acceptable agreement in light of President Donald Trump’s initiative and the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement.”
The movement said the agreement aims to end humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip, ensure the withdrawal of occupation forces from the entire Strip, and begin reconstruction.
Hamas stressed the necessity of obligating the occupation to implement the first phase, to allow for serious dialogue on the second phase issues.
