Cross River State Epidemiologist, Dr Inyang Ekpenyong, has given assurances regarding the state’s response to a confirmed case of COVID-19 involving a Chinese national.
Ekpenyong stated that every individual who had contact with the patient is now under “strict surveillance” by health authorities.
The state epidemiologist stated this on Wednesday in Calabar during a late-night telephone conversation with LEADERSHIP.

She stressed that the situation remains under control for now.
“But as we speak, there is no other reported case of Covid -19 except the case of the Chinese National, which is being put under control.
“We are in contact with all those who made contact with him.
“As I speak to you, all of them have been asked to stay at home, and we are in close contact with them, we are monitoring all of them,” the state Epidemiologist maintained.
