NYSC reacts to killing of corps member by soldiers in FCT

The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reacted to the killing of one of its members, Abdulsamad Jamiu by some soldiers in the Dei-Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory.

In a statement issued on Monday, April 27, the NYSC expresses its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the corps member who was allegedly killed by soldiers in his home on Sunday, April 26.

The corps said, “The Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) expresses its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Corps Member Abdulsamad Jamiu (NS/25A/2904), who sadly lost his life during a military operation in the vicinity of his residence at Shagari Estate, Dei-Dei, Abuja, in the early hours of Sunday, 26 April 2026.”

According to the NYSC, Jamiu was serving at Government Junior Secondary School, Bakin Ado, Nasarawa State, before his death.

The corps also said that the late Jamiu was contributing to national development through the scheme before he was killed.

“The NYSC Management notes this incident with profound concern and sorrow. The Scheme is actively engaging with relevant security agencies to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“While this occurrence is deeply regrettable, the Scheme reaffirms its commitment to the safety, security, and welfare of all Corps Members and staff across the country. Efforts will continue to be strengthened in collaboration with security and intelligence agencies to mitigate risks and enhance protection nationwide,” the statement said.

It also stated that the NYSC stands in solidarity with the Jamiu’s family during this difficult period and prays for the peaceful repose of the soul of the deceased.
