Police arrest suspected cultist, recover firearm in Ekiti

Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a suspected member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity found with a locally made pistol in Ado-Ekiti metropolis.
The suspect, identified as Adeleke Tosin, alias Damo, was apprehended on April 16, 2026, following what the police described as a credible tip-off that he was sighted within the city with the weapon.
Police said a painstaking operation led to his arrest.
During interrogation, Adeleke allegedly confessed to being a member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity and to participating in recent cult clashes in Ado-Ekiti and its environs that resulted in the deaths of rival cult members.
One locally made pistol was recovered from the suspect, the Command said. Efforts are ongoing to track and arrest other fleeing members of the group.
The suspect will be charged to court after investigation is concluded, according to the police.
Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, urged residents to remain vigilant and support the police with credible information to rid the state of criminals.
He also warned cultists and other criminal elements to turn a new leaf, adding that the long arm of the law will definitely catch up with them.
