Tiwa Savage: Talent Alone Won’t Make You a Music Star

Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage says that having talent is not enough to make it big in the music industry.
The singer shared this advice while discussing her project, the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, which aims to provide young African creatives with professional skills and industry access. “Music changed my life, but talent alone isn’t enough, especially when it is hard to get into the industry,” she stated.
To mark the program’s progress, the foundation is hosting a grand finale concert today in Lagos. The event features over 100 participants who completed a specialised training course held in partnership with the Berklee College of Music.
The concert, taking place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, is being hosted by entertainers Darey Art Alade and Kie Kie.
Savage noted that the
The initiative focuses on developing well-rounded industry leaders, including producers and executives, rather than just performing artists.
