How She Became The Defacto Leader Of The Party
She is well respected amongst members of the Oyo State APC. She is one of their leaders. Since her husband, Senator Abiola Ajimobi died a few years back, Amb. Mrs. Florence Ajimobi has assumed the leadership of the vaccum left by her husband.
In his life time, Senator Abiola Ajimobi was a 2-term governor of Oyo State. He was also the defacto leader of Oyo APC.
Once he passed on, Oyo APC leaders appealed to his widow to take a more than passing interest in the affairs of Oyo APC. They wanted her to take an active part in the running of the vibrant party. And she heeded their call.
She began to attend meetings frequently and she also began to host some.
She was also involved in amicably resolving several intra party disputes. And many party members began to look up to her for leadership and direction. And she has not failed them since she took active charge of running the party at the state level.
Many don’t know that Mrs. Florence Ajimobi supported President Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition. She was the Oyo State Coordinator for the Tinubu/Shettima Oyo Women Campaign Team. And she has been actively mobilizing support for him. She has also expressed confidence in his ability to lead the country, citing his experience and vision.
In fact, she has been quite vocal about her support, meeting with various stakeholders, including the Christian Association of Nigeria and Muslim women associations, to rally support for Tinubu’s presidential bid.
What is her role in Oyo State politics?
Ambassador Florence Ajimobi is a prominent figure in Oyo State politics, known for her influential role as the wife of late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the former Governor of Oyo State. She has maintained a strong presence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has been instrumental in shaping the party’s direction in the state. Her efforts have earned her quality recognition, including her recent nomination as an Ambassador by President Bola Tinubu.
She is considered to be the de facto leader of the APC in Oyo State, with some factions advocating for her ascension to a senatorial position.
Through her Access to Basic Care Foundation, she has provided support for people in critical areas, including Cancer and maternal healthcare.
She founded OYSOWA, a platform that brings together women in public office and promotes women’s issues.
Her Ajumose Food Bank has distributed food items to thousands of citizens in Oyo State.
She inaugurated a 40-man committee to support Tinubu’s campaign and has been rallying women and stakeholders in Oyo State to back his bid.
Right now as the campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s 2nd term hots up, she is leading Oyo APC members to deliver significant votes for the President.
She was part of the recent Renewed Hope rallies across all the federal constituencies in Oyo State, aimed at strengthing party cohesion and deepening public confidence in the APC leadership.
She was physically present at all the rallies. She was at Ibadan North Federal Constituency. She was at Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency. She was also at the Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency.
She attended the last Ogbomoso rally in January and the Oyo town rally last December. The Oyo rally marked the maiden Renewed Hope Ambassador rally. It was a powerful demonstration of Unity. Purpose & Progressive Resolve.
It was a proud reaffirmation of their committment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
She is involved in many other initiation from time to time, she attends social and philanthropic events. Regularly she shares food items and cash gifts to people, embracing the true spirit of the different festive seasons, while reaffirming shared values of love, compassion and generosity.
Annually she holds Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable Agenda. The last one was the 76th posthumous birthday of her husband, held last December.
There is also the Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation (SAAF) educational grants which she regularly gives out.
She also runs her private business, Grandtex Stores Nigeria with branches all over Ibadan. On 29th May, she congratulated Pres. Tinubu on his birthday. She celebrated what she calls his enduring courage, visionary leadership and dogged committment to the progress of our great nation.
“Your longstanding friendship with my beloved husband, late Abiola Ajimobi and the love you have continued to show to his family, even after his passing, remains deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten”.
She is very active online. She is the Founder/CEO of Access to Basic Media Care Foundation.
She was recently made Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, a role she has promised to play well.
Right now, she is involved in helping the OYO APC get a good quality governorship candidate.
A few days ago, she took a bold move to ensure victory for APC in the state when she hosted governorship aspirants on the platform of the party at her husband’s Lagos residence.
At the meeting which had many of the chieftains of Oyo APC in attendance, they resolved that they would be loyal to whoever President Bola Tinubu suggests.
