The people of Ogbomoso North, South, and Oriade Federal constituencies have commended a House of Representatives member, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao Akala, for fast-tracking and attracting tangible benefits to the constituency.
Since the assumption of office, the son of former Oyo State Governor, the late Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, has expressed a desire to adequately represent his constituency for the development and advancement of his people.
One area where Hon. Alao Akala has taken a clear national stance on the Special Seats Bill, currently before the National Assembly. The bill seeks to create additional legislative seats for women to address Nigeria’s low female representation.
Supporting Widows and the Elderly, the Lawmaker instituted a quarterly program that the office distributes food items, clothing, and cash stipends to over 1,000 widows and elderly citizens. During Ramadan and Christmas.
The program expands to include interfaith support, ensuring no community feels excluded. Beneficiaries are selected through ward coordinators and verified by community leaders to reduce duplication.
In partnership with the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, NCPWD, the constituency office facilitated the distribution of wheelchairs, hearing aids, and prosthetic limbs to 120 beneficiaries. The office also advocates for inclusive employment in federal agencies and has secured internships for 15 persons with disabilities in federal parastatals.
Over 500 students have benefited from bursaries and scholarships covering WAEC, NECO, JAMB, and tertiary institution fees. The scheme prioritizes orphans, children of widows, and students with disabilities. In addition, the office distributed 5,000 exercise books, school bags, and uniforms to public primary schools in 2025 to reduce the burden on parents.
A “Back to School” medical outreach was also introduced, offering free eye tests and glasses to pupils. In the project, over 1,200 pupils were screened, with 340 receiving corrective glasses.
In 2024 and 2025, over 1,200 youths from the constituency underwent training in ICT, fashion design, solar installation, welding, and agro-processing through partnerships with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and private training firms such as TechQuest and Solar Academy Nigeria.
Each participant received starter packs: laptops for ICT graduates, sewing machines for tailors, toolkits for electricians, and startup kits for agro-processors.

On health, the “Ogbomoso Health Cares” initiative has provided free medical screenings, eye care, and distribution of drugs to over 8,000 residents across the three local government areas. The program partners with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency to ensure follow-up for patients with hypertension and diabetes.
During the 2025 Lassa fever scare, the office distributed 5,000 hygiene kits and worked with the Oyo State Ministry of Health to conduct awareness campaigns in 15 wards.

“He has shown that when youth empowerment, grassroots development, and national project facilitation are pursued with intentionality, the downtrodden benefit. They see change in the road they walk, the light that stays on at night, and the skill that puts food on the table.
Recognizing the digital economy, he facilitated the installation of a federal ICT hub in Ogbomoso North. The hub provides free internet, computer training, and co-working space for young tech entrepreneurs. In its first six months, over 800 youths used the facility for JAMB registration, online courses, and remote work.
Attesting to his benevolence, a 24-year-old beneficiary, Aisha Yusuf, and graduate from Ogbomoso North, now runs a graphics design business from her home. Her words: “Before this training, I had my certificate, but no laptop and no client. Today, I have three clients in Lagos. The starter pack changed everything. I can pay my rent and support my younger brother in school.”
Another beneficiary, Olawale Gbadamosi, 28, who trained in solar installation, said the program gave him confidence to leave okada riding. “Now I install solar for shops and churches in Ogbomoso. I earn more in a week than I earned in a month before.”
Expressing gratitude for the trust and confidence reposed in him, Hon Akala said his late father actually groomed him for a leadership task.
