The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general election, Atiku Abubakar, has called on his co-contestants, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, to unite with him in what he described as a collective effort to save Nigeria’s democracy.
Addressing party delegates, supporters and members shortly after the announcement of the results, Atiku urged all aspirants who participated in the party primaries across the country to put aside their differences and work together in the interest of national development and party unity.
According to him, the outcome of the primary election should not be viewed in terms of winners and losers, but rather as a democratic process aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the general elections.
“I, Atiku Abubakar, therefore, appeal to all those who feel aggrieved to return back to our party,” he stated.
“I appeal to all those who contested for various positions in our primaries to close ranks with us.”
The ADC presidential candidate made a direct appeal to both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen, inviting them to join hands with him in what he described as a mission to rescue Nigeria’s democratic system and provide purposeful leadership for the country.
Reiterating his commitment to inclusive leadership, the former Vice President maintained that the party’s focus should remain on national unity, democratic values and the welfare of Nigerians.
“As I said previously that there are no winners and no losers, our people look up for leadership and I’m ready to lead,” he added.
Political observers believe Atiku’s conciliatory remarks may help strengthen internal cohesion within the ADC as preparations begin in earnest for the 2027 presidential race.
