Eid-el-Kabir: AANI President Urges Unity, Sacrifice for National Progress

The President of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), Emmanuel Obi Okafor, has called on Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, tolerance, patriotism and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
In his Eid message issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Okafor said the significance of the festival should inspire citizens towards greater commitment to national unity, justice, reconciliation and selfless service to humanity.
According to him, Nigeria can only attain greatness when citizens place unity above division and collective progress above selfish interests.
“As we celebrate, we must reflect deeply on the profound lessons of Eid: sacrifice for the common good, love for one another, devotion to God, and commitment to justice, peace and reconciliation,” he stated.
The AANI president commended Nigerians for their resilience amid prevailing security and socio-economic challenges, noting that the faith of citizens in the nation’s future remains a source of hope and strength.
He also praised members of AANI for their contributions to national development, strategic leadership, peace-building and good governance across various sectors.
Okafor further lauded officers and personnel of the Armed Forces, as well as security and intelligence agencies, for their sacrifices and commitment to national security.
“Their courage and dedication remain deeply appreciated by all patriotic Nigerians,” he said, while urging security agencies to intensify efforts towards restoring peace and ensuring the safe return of citizens in captivity.
The AANI president also advised political leaders to rise above divisive rhetoric and partisan interests by focusing on governance and policies that would improve the welfare of Nigerians.
He urged citizens, irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliations, to recommit themselves to mutual respect, brotherhood and national unity.
“May the blessings of Eid-el-Kabir bring renewed peace to our nation, comfort to our homes, wisdom to our leaders, strength to our security agencies and abiding prosperity to the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.
