Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), amid ongoing political developments within the party in Delta State. Ochei’s resignation was contained in a letter dated May 8, 2026, addressed to the APC Ward 4 Chairman in Onicha-Olona, Aniocha North Local Government Area.
In the letter, personally signed by the former lawmaker, he said his decision followed “careful reflection and personal consideration” and would take immediate effect.“I write to formally resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective immediately,” the letter stated.
Although Ochei did not disclose his next political move, his resignation comes amid recent exits of prominent APC figures in Delta State, including former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege and some of his supporters.The former Speaker thanked party leaders and members for their support during his time in the APC. “I remain grateful for the opportunity given to me to serve and associate with the party over the years,” he stated.
Political observers say the resignation could influence political alignments in Delta North ahead of the 2027 general elections.The Delta State chapter of the APC had not issued an official response as of the time this report was filed.
