Governor Buni Hailed Over His Achievements In Governing Yobe

In a significant event marking the seventh anniversary of the administration of Dr Mai Mala Buni in Yobe state, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mohammed Goje, delivered an inspiring address at the SSG Conference Room today. The theme of the celebration, “Seven (7) Years of Continuity, Consolidation and Transformational Leadership,” encapsulated the administration’s robust achievements in various sectors amid numerous challenges.

Over the past seven years, the Buni administration has navigated the treacherous waters of insecurity, economic pressures, and humanitarian crises to emerge as a beacon of resilience and prudent leadership. The government’s strategies have focused on continuity, inclusive development, and strategic investments designed to bolster public confidence and lay sustainable foundations for future prosperity.

A cornerstone of the Buni administration’s accomplishments has been the restoration of peace and security across Yobe State. Dr. Goje highlighted a proactive, multi-dimensional approach to security, which included collaborating closely with security agencies, enhancing logistical support, and focusing on community engagement. Noteworthy initiatives included the procurement of over 200 operational motorcycles and 60 patrol vehicles to bolster local security operations.

Goje revealed that In an effort to reinforce security sector reforms, the government established the Yobe State Security Stakeholders Forum, enhancing inter-agency coordination and intelligence sharing. Additionally, the administration prioritised the training of personnel in crisis management and non-kinetic operations, ensuring that local security volunteers and officials are well-prepared to handle emerging threats.

These efforts have yielded significant results: previously affected communities are now experiencing a renaissance of economic and social activities, marked by thriving markets, operational schools, and improved road networks.

According to him, infrastructure development has been another hallmark of the Buni administration. With one of the most extensive road construction and urban renewal programs in Yobe’s history, investments have been strategically distributed across all local government areas. Dr Goje emphasised the ongoing construction of the Damaturu Flyover and Underpass Bridge, which stands as a symbol of modernisation for Yobe’s capital.

From enhancing mobility within the Damaturu metropolis to transforming transport networks across rural areas, notable projects include the dualization of key roads and the construction of critical links connecting various communities. These infrastructure investments are not merely about roads but are viewed as economic corridors that facilitate trade, enhance agricultural productivity, and connect citizens to opportunities.

The administration’s focus on rural access has led to the improvement of roads vital for agricultural value chains, further solidifying the economic foundation necessary for sustainable development.

As Dr Goje concluded his address, he reiterated the Buni administration’s unwavering commitment to building a resilient and prosperous Yobe State. The achievements over the past seven years serve as a testament to the effectiveness of continuity and transformational leadership in the face of adversity. The government stands ready to carry this momentum forward, ensuring the welfare and progress of its citizens as they navigate a rapidly changing world. The event left attendees inspired and hopeful for a bright future under the stewardship of Governor Mai Mala Buni.
