JUST- IN: No Direct Primary in Niger, Incumbent House of Rep. members Emerge Through Consesus

Sequel to intense meeting of stakeholders of All Progressives Congress APC from the 10 federal constituencies in Niger state the 8 incumbent members of the House of Representatives have been adopted as consensus candidate in the state.
LEADERSHIP gathered from the venue of the various stakeholders meeting taking place at government house Minna, that the Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has prevailed on other aspirants to step down for the incumbent members in lieu of a Juicy political appointment.
It was learnt that the move was based on the appeal from big wigs of the party at the National level , that the incumbent members of the national assembly should be allowed to go for another term in order to avoid backlashes after the primary .
Consequently, there is no constituency the direct primary for the House of Representatives ticket of APC was taking place in Niger state as contained in the timetable of the primaries released by the National secretariat of the party.
It was gathered as at the time of filing this report that meetings were ongoing to come up with consesus candidates for Edati/Lavun/Mokwa and Chanchaga federal constituencies where the two incumbent members are from the People Democratic Party PDP
