Nasarawa PDP Factionalise As Party Gets Two Governorship Candidates

The Nasarawa State chapter of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been Factionalised as the party have two governorship candidates ahead of 2027, general election in the state.

Barrister Nyeson Wike’s faction led by Abdurahman Mohammed had their primaries on Sunday 24th May 2026, which the affirmed Dr Emmanuel Umbugado, as a candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Nasarawa State.

On 28th May 2026, Tsaminu Turaki’s led faction held their own primary which Architect Mohammed Ja’afaru emerged as a governorship candidate in the same platform ahead of 2027 general election in the state respectively.

When contacted Dr. Daniel Gimba the chairman Nasarawa State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), explained that the party does not have faction adding that the party had already conducted its primaries recently and candidates were emerged

He also added that, the party doesn’t know anybody who is parading himself as a factional candidate of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Earlier, this morning Daily Independent observed that security personnel were saw barricaded PDP secretariat for the breach of law and order.

Our correspondent also gathered that the Tsaminu Turaki’s led faction held their primary at donama primary school in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.
