Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has stirred political reactions after issuing a strong message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja shortly after emerging as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku suggested that Tinubu could lose his re-election bid and advised him to prepare to return to Lagos.
According to Atiku:
“President Tinubu should better pack and go back to Lagos.”
The former presidential candidate also congratulated other aspirants who participated in the party’s primary election, describing the contest as one driven by patriotism and the desire for a better Nigeria.
He said:
“I congratulate my fellow contestants for this ticket to represent our great party in the elections scheduled for early next year. I know that you are driven by your patriotism and commitment to a better Nigeria and improved life for our people.”
Atiku emerged winner of the ADC primary after defeating former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, polling 1,846 votes to secure the party’s presidential ticket.
His comments quickly sparked reactions online, with Nigerians sharing mixed opinions about both Atiku and President Tinubu ahead of the next election cycle.
