Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, known as ‘Peruzzi’, is a Nigerian singer who recently revealed that he stopped communicating with his girlfriend of seven years immediately after meeting Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Davido.
During an appearance on the talk show Lights, Camera, It’s My Turn, alongside Falz, VJ Adams and Tope Olowoniyan, Peruzzi spoke about how sudden fame and wealth affected his relationship.
Peruzzi said meeting Davido changed his life almost instantly. According to him, he met the singer one day and was flown to Dubai the next, before travelling to Lebanon shortly after.
Peruzzi admitted the sudden lifestyle change was overwhelming, adding that he stopped communicating with his partner for several days.
He said, “I didn’t text her or nothing, I was with my guys enjoying life.”
When asked why he did not call her to share the achievement, Peruzzi said he was experiencing a level of success he had never imagined. He added that his reaction might have been different if he had truly been in love at the time, but that was not the situation.
Peruzzi also spoke about his early connection with Davido, saying their relationship began more like a brotherhood than a music partnership, especially as he had recently lost his mother when they first met.
