An aspirant in the Plateau State governorship primary election of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Jude Dakur, has rejected the outcome of the exercise held on Friday, alleging that no valid election took place in six local government areas of the state.
Dakur specifically named Jos North, Kanam, Quan’pan, Pankshin, Bassa, and Jos East as councils where, according to him and his agents, the primaries were not conducted.
He alleged that officials assigned to conduct the exercise failed to appear at designated polling centres, and instead “sat in hotels and private residences to concoct names.”
Describing the process as flawed and lacking credibility, Dakur said it fell short of basic democratic standards.
“There was no ADC primary in Plateau State in these local government areas,” he said, urging the party’s appeal committee to urgently intervene.
In a statement issued by his Director-General, Rengkat Bakpet, Dakur said formal petitions had already been submitted to the appeal committee by stakeholders and party agents from the affected areas.
The aspirant called for the rejection of results from the six local government areas, the nullification of the entire exercise, and the conduct of fresh primaries.
He further accused the party’s Organising Secretary of compromising the process by allegedly directing electoral officers to favour a particular candidate.
As of the time of filing this report, the ADC leadership in Plateau State had yet to respond to the allegations.
