The Taraba State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security arrangements ahead of the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Commissioner of Police, Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah celebration.
The police said comprehensive security measures have been activated across the state, including intensified visibility policing, strategic patrols, stop-and-search operations, intelligence gathering, and deployment of personnel to Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, highways, markets, motor parks, and other public places.
According to the statement, officers deployed for the operation have been directed to remain professional, vigilant, proactive, and respectful of citizens’ rights while carrying out their duties.
Signed by Victor Mshelizah, Acting Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commissioner, the commissioner also urged residents to celebrate responsibly, remain law-abiding, and avoid acts capable of disrupting public peace and order. Parents and guardians were advised to closely monitor their children and wards during the festivities.
The command warned criminal elements to stay away from the state, stressing that security agencies were fully prepared to deal decisively with anyone attempting to cause trouble during the celebration.
