The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Chinedu Ogah, has called on political stakeholders in Ebonyi South Zone to uphold the state’s zoning arrangement and principles of equity, fairness, and political inclusion.
Speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, the lawmaker warned that any attempt by political actors from the South Zone to challenge the current political structure or contest against the administration of Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru would undermine the existing power-sharing understanding that has sustained peace and stability in Ebonyi State.
Ogah said Ebonyi’s political system was founded on mutual trust, rotational governance, and the sacrifices of the state’s founding leaders, particularly former governor Martin Nwanchukwu Elechi, whom he credited with strengthening equity among the zones.
The lawmaker, Chairman of the House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, noted that several states across the federation, including Borno State, Benue State, and Kwara State, have retained political leadership within dominant blocs for decades, while Ebonyi adopted a system based on balance, justice, and inclusion.
According to him, with the governorship position currently occupied by Ebonyi North, particularly the Izzi clan, political actors should support continuity, consolidate the achievements of the present administration, and avoid actions capable of overheating the polity.
Ogah also cautioned against external political interference in Ebonyi affairs, insisting that the people of the state remain united in protecting the state’s political stability and collective mandate.
He urged stakeholders, party faithful, and opinion leaders across the state to prioritise unity, equity, and sustainable development above personal ambition and divisive politics.
