Signs Collaboration MOU With Chaudhary Devi Lal University, India

History was made by Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka on Thursday when the Vice Chancellor Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie disclosed plans to upgrade the University Pre-Science Centre, located at Mbaukwu community in Awka South local government area into a mini-campus structure with attendant facilities upgrade and student enrolment.
The Vice Chancellor made the disclosure during a courtesy call to the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Peter Anugwu in his palace.
Prof. Anyaehie also disclosed that new intakes for the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) will also commence their programme at the Mbaukwu study centre in September this year thereby swelling the number of students in the centre by over 2000 numbers.
He described Mbaukwu as great community with a great Traditional Ruler noting that works to that effect had already commenced in the study centre .
Anyaehie called for greater partnership and collaboration between the university and members of the community in the areas of hostel development, security among other services noting that with the latest developments in place, Mbaukwu community will be placed on digital world map as an educational centre and mini campus of the great Nnamid Azikiwe University.
Responding, the traditional ruler, Igwe Peter Anugwu who was highly elated on the good news expressed serious sentiments of gratitude over the development.
He said that seeing the Mbaukwu campus developed to the best global standard will be the greatest wish of his lifetime which he eagerly waited for having seen it all in his 51 years on the throne and still counting.
He prayed against every evil forces that may thwart such lofty plan of action assuring that the community remains ever ready to preserve the legacies and the prospects of the institution domiciled in Mbaukwu.
In another development Nnamdi Azikiwe University and the Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Haryana, India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration and mutual support in promoting teaching and learning, research and development.
The MOU signing ceremony which was conducted live online in real time marked a significant step toward fostering global academic excellence, research cooperation, and cultural exchange. The partnership covers a range of joint events, exchange programmes, educational resource sharing and partnerships.
Speaking at the online ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Ugochukwu Stanley Bond Anyaehie highlighted the great potentials of the institution based available statistical data.
He expressed optimism that the collaboration with Chaudhary University, India would further promote growth and staff development.
On his part, the Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Prof. Vijay Kumar gave a brief background of the institution which he said was named after a former Deputy Prime Minister of India.
He expressed excitement about the coincidence that both Universities were named after Statesmen that served their people creditably.
He observed that the collaboration with UNIZIK has great prospects and pledged to support the partnership for mutual benefit of both institutions.
The ceremony was facilitated by Prof. Charles Nwadigwe, Director, International Collaboration and Linkages of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and Prof. Anu Shukla, the Dean, International Relations and Foreign Affairs of Chaudhary Devi Lal University.
At the online ceremony, both Vice Chancellors signed their own copies of the MOU live while other staff present witnessed and applauded the event.
