The Headquarters, 2 Division Nigerian Army, has commenced its 2026 Range Classification Exercise at the Major General OF Azinta Shooting Range, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan.
The exercise, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Deputy Director, 2 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, will take place from June 3 to June 4, 2026.
Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma said the exercise forms part of the Nigerian Army’s training activities aimed at enhancing operational readiness and maintaining combat proficiency among personnel.
He urged members of the public, particularly residents living around the Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, to stay away from the designated shooting range throughout the exercise period.
The Army spokesman also advised residents not to panic upon hearing gunshots, noting that the sounds would emanate from the scheduled military training exercise.
He further cautioned farmers and hunters operating within the vicinity of the range to avoid the area during the exercise, stressing that adequate measures have been put in place to prevent unauthorised access and ensure public safety.
The Nigerian Army appealed to residents and other stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation as troops undertake the training exercise.
