2027: PDP Unveils Arch Suleiman As Governorship Hopeful, Others

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Niger state chapter has formally unveiled its governorship candidates in the person of, Architect Abubakar Suleiman from Mokkwa and Alhaji Dahir DanAzumi Abdul from Suleja as his deputy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among other candidates formally presented to the party members and the general public are two out of the three Senatorial candidates, Hon. Nma Alfa from Bida for zone ‘A’ (Niger-South), Hon. Abdullahi Yahaya from Kontagora for zone ‘C’ (Niger-North).

Presenting the Certificates of Return to its flag-bearers and declaring its readiness to mount a strong challenge to reclaim power from the All Progressive Congress (APC), the state party Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Halidu Mohammed, congratulated the candidates for emerging victorious at the party primaries and encouraged them to embark on grassroots mobilisation for the PDP ahead of next year’s elections.

The event, which brought together party leaders, stakeholders and supporters, marked a significant step in the PDP’s preparations for the next electoral cycle, with the party’s leadership in Niger state encouraging members to engage in an issue-based campaign and present themselves in a common united front for grassroots mobilisation.

Campaigns should be focused on issues that affect the generality of Nigerlites and how to solve them if voted for, rather than personal attacks, Halidu Mohammed warns.

The Chairman also emphasised the importance of the candidates to maintain strong working relationships with party officials at all levels, particularly the 25 Local Government Areas (LGAs) chairmen and ward chairmen across the state.

Also speaking, the former First Lady of the state, Senator Zainab Kure, commended the candidates for their loyalty and steadfastness to the party as she nevertheless acknowledge challenges associated with taking on an incumbent government.

While urging the candidates and PDP members in the state generally not to be discouraged, Zaynab Kure advised them to remain focused, resilient and be guided by the will of God as they prepare for the electoral contest.

Certificates of Return were presented to the senatorial candidates, six House of Representatives candidates and 24 State House of Assembly candidates who emerged victorious in the party’s primary elections.
