Germany have secured a place in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 in their second Group E match on Saturday.
The Germans, coached by Julian Nagelsmann, followed up their emphatic victory over Curaçao in the opening game with another important win, although they were forced to come from behind.
Côte d’Ivoire took a surprise lead in the first half through Franck Kessié, who scored against the run of play.
However, Germany responded strongly after the break, with substitute Deniz Undav netting twice to complete the comeback and seal all three points.
The victory confirms Germany’s progression to the knockout stage, where they join co-hosts USA and Mexico, who had already booked their places in the Round of 32.
