Fresh concerns are mounting over rising political tension in Osun State following the reported shooting of an All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Taofeeq Mustapha, in the Oluode Aranyin area of Osogbo on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Eyewitnesses allege that the attack may not be an isolated incident, but part of a broader pattern of political intimidation linked to the controversial “AMBO” campaign structure. According to residents, armed men stormed the area in an unmarked vehicle, firing shots into the air before targeting the victim—reportedly for wearing an opposition campaign cap.
The incident has sparked accusations from concerned voices within the community, who claim that elements associated with the AMBO political machinery are contributing to unrest and fear across parts of the state.
More pointedly, critics are beginning to question the role of prominent political figures, including Gboyega Oyetola, now Nigeria’s Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, over alleged links—direct or indirect—to political actors accused of destabilizing local peace.
