The Federal Government has said the Lagos Renewed Hope City project is progressing steadily and nearing completion, following an inspection visit by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttaqha Rabbe Darma, who expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far.
During the inspection, Darma expressed satisfaction with the level of work done at the site, commending contractors and project supervisors for what he described as “significant strides” in the delivery of the large-scale housing scheme, which he said has now reached an advanced stage.
The Lagos Renewed Hope City, situated within the Ibeju-Lekki axis, forms part of the Federal Government’s broader housing intervention programme designed to bridge Nigeria’s housing deficit and expand access to affordable homes for citizens.
The development is expected to deliver thousands of housing units upon completion under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates initiative, which is aimed at addressing the country’s growing urban accommodation needs.
Darma emphasised the importance of maintaining the current pace of work, urging contractors to ensure quality is not compromised while meeting delivery timelines. He said:
“The progress recorded so far on this project is commendable, and it shows clear commitment from all parties involved.”
He added:
“We are satisfied with the level of work done, but we must ensure that quality is not sacrificed for speed as we move towards completion.”
Darma further stressed the importance of the project within the government’s housing agenda, noting:
“This project is a key part of our housing strategy under the Renewed Hope agenda, and it must be delivered to standard.”
He also assured continued oversight from the ministry:
“Our monitoring and supervision will continue to ensure that all timelines are met and Nigerians get value for money.”
He further described the Lagos project as a flagship development that reflects the government’s determination to address urban housing challenges, adding that its completion would significantly contribute to easing accommodation pressure in Lagos State and surrounding areas.
The Renewed Hope Cities and Estates programme remains one of the Federal Government’s key infrastructure drives targeted at reducing the national housing gap and improving living conditions across the country.
