Former senatorial aspirant for Osun East Senatorial District, Samuel Oyedotun, has cautioned the All Progressives Congress against stoking political violence in Osun State, warning that no ambition is worth shedding blood.
The warning comes on the heels of shooting incidents which occurred in some parts of the state on Tuesday afternoon.
It would be recalled that political hoodlums allegedly working for the APC on Tuesday, fired gunshots at Ile-Ife, Owode Ede, Aregbe, Olaiya, Old Garage and Oke Fia area of the state, causing heightened tension.
However, the gubernatorial campaign council of the APC dismissed the allegations, noting that a political thug allegedly working for the state government led others to attack its members.
Reacting to the development in a statement on Wednesday, Oyedotun, a United States-trained mortgage stockbroker and immediate past Chairman of the Osun State Water Corporation Board, said politicians must put Osun’s peace above personal interest.
“Osun APC should not set the state on fire because of its inordinate ambition. No political office is worth the blood of any Osun son or daughter. We must reject violence and thuggery in all its forms.

“When political actors tolerate or encourage violence, we create room for gunmen and cultists to thrive. The shooting spree in some parts of the state is a red flag we cannot ignore,” he said
The Accord Party chieftain noted that Osun has made progress under the current administration and urged all political actors to protect those gains through civil conduct.
He said residents deserve elections and political competition without fear, slamming the opposition party for allegedly resorting to violence ahead of the August 15 gubernatorial election.
“Electioneering should not be ‘do or die’. Nobody is above the law. Those perpetrating this crime must face the consequences, and I am using the opportunity to call on all the security agencies to arrest the perpetrators and be vigilant,” Oyedotun noted.
