Xenophobia: Nigeria To Receive 270 Evacuees From S’ Africa As Fourth Repatriation Flight Arrives Wednesday

The Federal Government has announced that the fourth evacuation flight for stranded Nigerian nationals in South Africa will depart Lagos on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, as part of the ongoing repatriation exercise.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, on Monday, an Air Peace aircraft assigned to the operation is scheduled to leave Lagos for Johannesburg at 3:30 p.m.

The aircraft is expected to depart Johannesburg at 12:00 midnight with 270 Nigerian returnees on board.

The Ministry disclosed that the flight is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, subject to operational conditions.
The latest evacuation flight is part of the Federal Government’s continued efforts to facilitate the safe return of Nigerians from South Africa following recent developments affecting some citizens in the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the welfare and protection of Nigerians abroad and pledged to continue coordinating the evacuation process until all willing returnees are safely brought home.
