“I Don’t Anchor Events Sponsored by Alcohol or Tobacco Brands” – IK Osakioduwa Explains Absence from 2026 AMVCA

  • IK Osakioduwa has confirmed that his absence as host of the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was due to his long-standing personal policy against anchoring events sponsored by alcohol or tobacco brands.
  • The revelation has sparked debate online, with many praising his commitment to his values, while others questioned whether similar standards had been applied throughout his career and previous hosting engagements.

Popular on-air personality and television host IK Osakioduwa has shed light on why he did not host the 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), a role he had become widely associated with over the years.

The media personality confirmed that his decision was based on a personal principle he has maintained for years refusing to anchor events sponsored by alcohol or tobacco companies.

The disclosure surfaced after a post shared by comedian MC Casino highlighted IK’s stance, noting that many people were unaware that he had consistently turned down lucrative opportunities linked to such sponsorships.

According to the post, IK has rejected offers worth millions because of his convictions.

“For years many did not know that baba do not anchor any event being sponsored by alcoholic brand or a Tobacco brand ….. turning down millions on a daily basis,” the post read.

The explanation quickly gained attention online, with social media users sharing mixed opinions about the broadcaster’s decision.

While some applauded him for prioritising his values over financial gain, others questioned whether alcohol-sponsored events he hosted in the past aligned with the position he now publicly maintains.
