Lions District 404B2 Rewards Excellence As Four Region 8 Clubs Secure Global Recognition

Region 8 of the Lions Clubs International District 404B2 has honoured outstanding members and clubs in the Region for their exceptional service to humanity during the 2025/2026 service year, as part of the District Governor’s annual visitation and performance review exercise.
Lion Oluwakemi Eribake, District Governor of the Lions Club District 404B2 Nigeria, while speaking at the DG interactive session and award ceremony held in Ikeja, Lagos described the visitation as a routine assessment exercise conducted across all regions within the district to evaluate performance against established goals.
She said the visit to Region 8, which includes two zones and eight clubs, featured the commissioning of several service projects aligned with the global causes of Lions Clubs International.
“Today we have been able to commission several projects, all of which contribute towards achieving the global causes of Lions Clubs International,” Eribake said.
The District Governor added that the event also provided an opportunity to appreciate members who had dedicated nearly a full year of service to their communities through various humanitarian initiatives.
She commended the leadership of Region 8 and its clubs for their commitment to service and the successful execution of projects that continue to impact lives across their communities.
Speaking earlier, Lion Adedeji Olukokun, Region 8 Chairperson, said the visitation, which takes place towards the end of every Lions service year, provides an opportunity for the District Governor to assess the performance of clubs and evaluate their contributions to community development.
According to him, the exercise also serves as a platform to recognise and reward members and clubs that have distinguished themselves through impactful service projects and commitment to the ideals of Lionism.
“What we did today is the District Governor’s visitation to the region, where clubs are reviewed and assessed. It is also a time for us to appreciate Lions members in the region for their selfless service throughout the year and reward those who have performed exceptionally well,” Olukokun said.
He disclosed that four of the eight clubs in Region 8 qualified for the prestigious Lions Clubs International Club Excellence Award, the highest recognition available to Lions clubs worldwide.
Olukokun explained that the achievement was particularly significant because the award criteria are rigorous, covering service activities, contributions to the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), membership growth and leadership development.
He identified the successful clubs as Lagos British Lions Club, Eko Royal Lions Club, Lagos Elites Lions Club and Lagos Hilton Lions Club.
“At the beginning of the service year, our goal as a Region was to have at least four of our eight clubs qualify for the Lions International Club Excellence Award, that is the highest award you can get as a club in the Lions club worldwide and I am pleased to say we achieved that target,” he said.
