NABTEB Confirms 15,281 Registered Candidates For 2026 National Common Entrance Examination

The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, on Saturday monitored the conduct of the 2026 National Common Entrance examination, NCEE, for admission to Technical Colleges in Nigeria.

Speaking to journalists soon after monitoring the examination at the Federal Technical College, Uromi centre, Dr. Mohammed disclosed that a total of 15,281candidates registered for the examination which took place in 203 centres nationwide.

He said of this total enrollment figure, 10,626 candidates are males, while 4,655 candidates are females,
adding that Enugu State top the list with the highest enrollment figure of 1,506 candidates, while Zamfara has the lowest registration figure of 14 candidates.

According to him, the candidates are being examined in 28 trades, including Electrical Installation and Maintenance Practice which has the highest enrollment figure of 3,875 candidates.

Others are Tilling and Cladding with the lowest registration figure of one (1) candidate; Computer Hardware and GSM Repairs (2,850 candidates); Catering Craft Practice (1,777 candidates), Bricklaying, Block laying and Concreting (1,552 candidates); Automobile Mechanics (1,154 candidates); Fashion Design and Garment Making (940 candidates); Welding and Fabrication (565 candidates); Woodwork, Carpentry and Joinery (421 candidates); and Electronics System Maintenance (394 candidates).

He said preliminary reports received from the monitoring officers and stakeholders indicate that the examination commenced smoothly in most centres, with candidates conducting themselves in an orderly manner and examination officials discharging their responsibilities professionally.

He said, “The examination, being conducted simultaneously in designated centres nationwide today, marks another important milestone in the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a strategic pathway for national development, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and economic self-reliance.

“As the designated national examining body for the NCEE to Technical Colleges, NABTEB has put in place comprehensive arrangements to ensure a seamless, transparent, credible, and hitch-free conduct of the examination.

“These arrangements include the secure production and distribution of examination materials, deployment of supervisory personnel, monitoring teams, and collaboration with relevant security agencies and stakeholders.

“I am pleased to report that monitoring teams from the National Headquarters and Zonal Offices of NABTEB, as well as critical stakeholders have been deployed to various examination centres across the country to oversee the conduct of the exercise and ensure strict compliance with established examination guidelines and standards.

“We commend the candidates, parents, school administrators, invigilators, Supervisors, and security personnel for their cooperation and commitment towards the success of the exercise.

“The Board remains resolute in its determination to uphold the integrity and credibility of all its examinations.

“Consequently, any act capable of compromising the examination process, including Impersonation, examination malpractice, unauthorised possession of examination materials, or any form of misconduct, will be dealt with in accordance with extant regulations”, he vowed.

NABTEB Registrar also noted that the National Common Entrance Examination for Technical Colleges provides a unique opportunity for young Nigerians to pursue quality technical and vocational education that equips them with employable skills and competencies required in today’s rapidly evolving world of work.

“The Federal Government’s renewed emphasis on skills development underscores the strategic importance of Technical Colleges in producing the skilled workforce necessary for industrial growth and national prosperity

“I wish to reassure all stakeholders that NABTEB remains committed to ensuring that the examination is conducted under the highest standards of professionalism, fairness, transparency, and accountability.

“The Board will continue to monitor developments throughout the duration of the examination and provide necessary updates where required”, he declared.
