Nasarawa North Bye-Election: PDP Candidate Ombugadu Launches Borehole Project Across Communities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Nasarawa North Senatorial bye-election, Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, has commenced a water intervention project across the district, with borehole drilling beginning in several communities.

Speaking during an inspection of the project in Wakama and Akapata communities in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, Ombugadu said the initiative was aimed at improving access to clean water and addressing a critical need in rural communities.

According to him, the project was informed by the challenges faced by residents, particularly women and children, who often travel long distances to obtain water. Ombugadu said surveys had been conducted to identify communities with the greatest need for potable water and assured residents that the intervention would be expanded to reach more areas.

The PDP candidate also expressed confidence ahead of the Nasarawa North Senatorial bye-election and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible process.

The borehole project covers communities in Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon local government areas, which make up the Nasarawa North Senatorial District.Project Coordinator, Mavous John, said drilling activities commenced after technical assessments and site surveys were completed. He noted that equipment and personnel had been deployed to multiple locations simultaneously.

Community leaders and residents in benefiting areas welcomed the initiative, describing improved access to potable water as essential for public health and economic development. The implementation team said the boreholes would be strategically located to maximise access and that quality standards would be maintained throughout the project.
