ABUJA – The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) on Tuesday reminded prequalified applicants participating in the 2025 Licensing Round that the submission of technical and commercial bids will close on Friday, June 12, 2026.
In a notice posted on its official X handle, the Commission said bid submissions would end at 4:30 p.m. (WAT) in line with the provisions of the 2025 Licensing Round Guidelines.
The regulator urged all prequalified bidders to complete and submit their technical and commercial proposals before the deadline, stressing that the exercise is being conducted in accordance with the established licensing framework.
NUPRC also directed interested participants to the 2025 Licensing Round portal for further information and submission requirements.
The impending deadline marks a critical stage in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to attract investment into the upstream petroleum sector and expand exploration activities across prospective oil and gas assets.
The 2025 Licensing Round is part of the Federal Government’s strategy to increase hydrocarbon reserves, boost crude oil production, deepen gas development and strengthen investor participation in the country’s energy industry.
The exercise is being conducted under the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), which restructured Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and vested NUPRC with responsibility for regulating upstream petroleum operations.
Industry stakeholders have closely monitored the licensing process, which is expected to unlock new investment opportunities, promote competition among operators and support the government’s broader objective of enhancing energy security and revenue generation.
With the submission window set to close on June 12, attention is now focused on the bid evaluation process that will determine the successful applicants for the available oil and gas assets.
