Team 2020 Club Distributes Foodstuffs To Widows, Elderly Women, Organises Free Eye Care Services To Visually Impaired Persons In Ibadan

As part of activities marking its forthcoming 6th year anniversary celebration scheduled for July 11, 2026, Team 2020 Club, a humanitarian organisation, has distributed food items to over 200 widows and elderly women in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to help alleviate the effects of poverty and economic hardship.
The Club, also in n partnership with Conac Optical Clinic has organized free eyes test and presentation of medicated glasses to the people with visual impairment and vulnerable in the state.
The distribution exercise, which took place on Friday at Born Photo area of Ibadan, adjacent to the family compound of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, was attended by beneficiaries from different parts of the city while the eyes test and presentation of medicated glasses was held at the premises of the Clinic at Ososami street, Oke-Ado, Ibadan on Saturday.
The food items distributed included bags of rice, garri, beans, beverages and other essential household consumables.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the event, the Chairman of the Club, Mr. Kehinde Agbona, alongside the Secretary, Mr. Dele Gbadebo, and the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Demola Yusuf, stated that the gesture formed part of the Club’s commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society.
They explained that the outreach programme was one of the activities lined up for the Club’s 6th anniversary celebration and was in line with the humanitarian objectives upon which the organisation was founded.
According to them, Team 2020 Club was established during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 with the primary aim of providing assistance to people facing hardship and economic challenges occasioned by the global health crisis.
“Team 2020 is a humanitarian organisation committed to supporting the needy and less privileged in society. This informed our decision to distribute food items to widows and elderly women as well as organizing free eyes test and presentation of recommended glasses to affected individuals numbering over 100 as part of our anniversary activities,” they said.
The Club’s Secretary noted that the organisation had consistently carried out similar interventions over the past six years and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining its humanitarian programmes despite prevailing economic challenges.
Similarly, the PRO, Mr. Demola Yusuf, described the distribution of food items free eye-care services as part of the Club’s efforts to give back to society.
He disclosed that the Club conducted free eye examinations and distribution of medicated eyeglasses to persons with visual impairments and other vulnerable members of the public at Conac Eye Clinic, Ososami area, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
The leadership of the Club also expressed concern over the growing insecurity across the country, noting that adequate security arrangements were made with the Nigeria Police to ensure the success of the distribution exercise.
They called on governments at all levels to urgently review and strengthen the nation’s security architecture in order to guarantee the safety of lives and property.
According to them, meaningful humanitarian interventions can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, security and stability.
The Club further prayed for the safe return of the abducted pupils, teachers and principal from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State and thanking God for safe return of the younger sister of Chief Adebayo Adelabu and her twin children, who were recently kidnapped.
Team 2020 Club reiterated its commitment to humanitarian service and pledged to continue supporting vulnerable groups in society through various welfare and empowerment initiatives.
