Teenage Girl Rescued As NSCDC Arrests Two Suspects In Edo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, has arrested two suspects over the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a teenage girl in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Naijaonpoint gathered that the command also rescued the victim and placed her in protective care.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, Dr Patrick Akhere Ebojele.
According to the statement, the incident was reported on June 19, 2026, after Mr Odion Enokhimion lodged a complaint at the NSCDC Ewohimi Division over the disappearance of his sister.
The victim was allegedly taken away by unknown persons a day earlier.
Following the complaint, operatives of the command launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Orhiabor ThankGod, 20, and Saturday Freedom, 16, both residents of Ewohimi.
The NSCDC investigation report said the suspects allegedly contacted the victim’s relatives after the abduction and demanded ransom.
They were said to have initially demanded ₦800,000 before reducing the amount to ₦300,000.
The command said conversations between the suspects and the victim’s family had been traced and recovered from a mobile phone belonging to one of the suspects.
An account allegedly linked to the suspects was also identified during the investigation.
A medical examination conducted at the Edo State Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Sen. Daisy Ehanire Danjuma Vivian Centre, Benin City, confirmed that the victim was sexually assaulted.
She was provided with medical treatment and counselling by professionals at the centre.
The NSCDC said the suspects remain in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
The incident comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies and the Edo State Government to strengthen the fight against violent crimes, especially offences involving women and children.
