Uche Okugo to serve as District Gov of Rotary International District 7080 Ontario, Canada

Uche Okugo serves as District Governor for 2026-2027 of Rotary International District 7080, Ontario, Canada. A Rotarian since 2006, he began his Rotary journey in Nigeria with the Rotary Club of Asaba and later the Rotary Club of Ota, serving in numerous leadership roles before relocating to Canada in 2018 and joining the Rotary Club of Brampton, where he also served as Club President.

A passionate advocate for Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self, Uche has provided leadership at both the club and district levels. He launched the District 7080 Interact Grant Writing Initiative, served as Youth Service Director, and twice led successful Rotary International Convention promotion campaigns, taking more than 50 Rotarians to the conventions in Melbourne and Singapore. As Membership Chair of the Rotary Club of Brampton, he introduced innovative member induction and mentorship programs that strengthened membership growth and engagement.

In 2025, Uche led the historic Rotary Friendship Exchange between District 7080 and District 9111 (Nigeria), resulting in the City of Brampton proclaiming June 18 as Rotary Friendship Exchange Day – the first proclamation of its kind in Rotary’s history.

A committed supporter of The Rotary Foundation, Uche is a Major Donor, Paul Harris Society, PolioPlus Society, and Bequest Society Level 2 member.

Professionally, Uche is an Economic Development leader with the City of Brampton, advancing innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship initiatives. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering, an MBA, and an Advanced Certificate in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo, along with leadership and financial trading certifications.

Uche is also a Founding Member of the Rotary Fellowship of Public Speakers, a member of the Rotarian Action Group for Community Economic Development (RAGCED), a WASHRAG Ambassador, and a Peace Ambassador with the Institute for Economics and Peace.

He lives in Brampton, Ontario, with his wife – a fellow Rotarian and Multiple Paul Harris Fellow – and their son, who is also a Paul Harris Fellow, reflecting their family’s shared commitment to Rotary’s ideals and service.
