2027: APM Mobilises Opposition Parties for Makinde, Hails PDP Support

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has said it is galvanising support across political parties to secure victory for its presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, in the 2027 general elections.

The party said its ongoing discussions with other opposition parties were yielding positive results, describing Makinde as a rallying point for Nigerians seeking an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

National Publicity Secretary of the APM, Abubakar Yusuf, stated this in Abuja on Sunday while reacting to the reaffirmation of support for the alliance by the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Thousands of PDP members and other residents of Ekiti State had gathered in Ado-Ekiti on Friday to reaffirm their support for Makinde and their collaboration with the APM ahead of the 2027 elections, while retaining their identity and structure within the PDP.

Yusuf described the development as a major boost to efforts to mobilise support for Makinde’s presidential bid.

He said, “We are working very hard and putting all our energy into this election because we are running to win. We have a good presidential candidate in Governor Makinde, who has already become a rallying point for Nigerians, especially the youth.

“Given Governor Makinde’s performance as governor of Oyo State, Nigerians have accepted him as a credible alternative to President Tinubu. So, we are in this election to win and there is no going back.

“Since Engr. Seyi Makinde emerged as the APM presidential candidate, Nigerians from across the country have increasingly identified with our party, with many expressing their readiness to mobilise support for the APM and its candidates.

“That is why we have been galvanising cross-party support for our presidential candidate, and I can confirm to you that our alliance talks with like-minded political parties are yielding the desired results.
