ACU Management Pays Tribute As Engr. Olaniyi Buries Mother

The management of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebu­noluwa Olufemi Oduwole, joined family members, friends and associates in Ipetu-Ijesa, Osun State, to pay their last respects to Mama Christianah Mo­nisola Olaniyi, mother of the university’s Director of Works and Services, Engr. Oluwole Aderogba Olaniyi.

Tributes began during the Christian Wake, where Prof. Oduwole described Engr. Olaniyi as a calm, dependable and disciplined administrator whose char­acter reflected the sound values instilled in him by his late mother.

The Vice-Chancellor, the first female to lead ACU, said her working relationship with Engr. Olaniyi since as­suming office had revealed a man who remained com­posed and professional even in challenging situations.

“I have come to know Engr. Olaniyi at a very close range. In my working experience with him, he has always displayed calmness, even when I was blowing hot. His calmness remained unshaken,” she said.

According to her, his customary response of “Yes, Ma,” before diligently carrying out assigned re­sponsibilities, exemplified the discipline and good up­bringing he received from his mother. She added that the large turnout at the wake was a testament to the esteem in which he is held and a reflection of the enduring legacy of the late matriarch.

Also paying tribute, the immediate past Vice-Chan­cellor, Prof. Timothy Ade­bayo, described the deceased as an elder sister who played a significant role in his life and family.

“She was a great asset to the family. She was my older sister. We have taken solace in the Lord because Mama died peacefully and is now resting in the bosom of the Lord,” he said.

The funeral service which took place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Iloro, Ipetu-Ijesa, where the officiating priest, Venera­ble.l Adegoke Adekunle Ja­cob, preaching from John 14:1–6, urged the congrega­tion to live with eternity in view.

He described the late Mama Olaniyi as a woman of unwavering Christian faith, a devoted mother and a worthy example of godly living.

The service was followed by a reception attended by the Vice-Chancellor, princi­pal officers of the university, the former Vice-Chancellor, members of staff, relatives and other well-wishers.

An emotional Engr. Ola­niyi expressed heartfelt ap­preciation to all who came to honour the memory of his mother, personally moving round the recep­tion venue to thank guests for their support, prayers and solidarity with his family during the period of bereavement.
