The Aminu Good Works Foundation (AGWF), founded by former NBA forward Al-Farouq Aminu, has announced plans for its 2026 Nigeria Basketball Combine and 10th Anniversary Celebration, marking a decade of using basketball as a platform for youth development, education and mentorship.
The anniversary events will begin in Ibadan from August 7 to 9, 2026, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, before moving to Abuja from August 13 to 16 for the AGWF Elite Invitational Camp at the MO Arena.
According to the foundation, this year’s programme introduces an expanded player evaluation model aimed at identifying talented young basketball players while creating more opportunities for aspiring athletes across Nigeria.
The Ibadan Regional Combine will feature about 150 student-athletes, comprising 100 boys and 50 girls, drawn from Oyo State and neighbouring regions.
Participants will undergo athletic testing and biometric assessments, basketball skill development sessions, competitive game evaluations, leadership training and mentorship from experienced coaches and basketball professionals.
The Ibadan event will also serve as the centrepiece of AGWF’s 10th anniversary celebration, bringing together former participants, coaches, community leaders, sponsors and supporters to commemorate a decade of impact.
Following the regional combine, approximately 30 of Nigeria’s top male basketball prospects aged 14 to 18 will be selected for the Elite Invitational Camp in Abuja.
The elite camp will focus on advanced player evaluations, high-level competition, position-specific instruction, college and professional development guidance, as well as exposure to coaches, scouts and basketball decision-makers.
Since its establishment in 2016, the Aminu Good Works Foundation has used basketball to empower young people by providing opportunities that extend beyond the court through education, leadership development and mentorship.
This year’s celebration will be held under the theme, “Who Is Chief?”, a campaign designed to highlight Aminu’s commitment to servant leadership, philanthropy and investing in the next generation of Nigerian leaders.
The foundation said further details on athlete registration, event schedules, media accreditation, volunteer opportunities and sponsorship partnerships will be released in the coming weeks through its official communication channels.
As it celebrates its 10th anniversary, AGWF says it remains committed to discovering talent, developing leaders and creating opportunities that will positively impact future generations.
