- What He Said At His Campaign Flag Off
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), last Thursday, 16th July, 2026, officially flagged off his governorship campaign in the ancient city of Ile-Ife amid a massive gathering of party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across the state.
The campaign rally, held at Enuwa Square, attracted thousands of APC faithfuls from the 30 local government areas of Osun State. The venue was filled to capacity as party members, dressed in colourful attires and branded face caps bearing campaign slogans, gathered to reaffirm their support for Oyebamiji’s governorship bid.
Many of the party faithfuls pledged to deliver victory for the APC candidate in their respective wards and local government areas, expressing confidence that he would emerge victorious in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Asiwaju Oyebamiji received a rousing welcome upon his arrival at the venue, as enthusiastic supporters cheered him on. The event officially commenced shortly after he and beautiful wife, Dr. Sekinat Bola Oyebamiji his Deputy, Engineer Benjamin Kayode Adereti, a son of the soil in Ife and his darling wife, Princess Adebukola Adereti joined other party leaders and dignitaries on the main stage.
One of the major highlights of the rally was the formal presentation of the APC flag to Oyebamiji by the Osun State APC Chairman, Hon. Tajudeen Lawal Olaniyi (Sooko), symbolising his official status as the party’s flag bearer for the election.
Addressing the crowd, Oyebamiji expressed deep appreciation to party leaders, members and supporters for their overwhelming turnout and unwavering confidence in his candidacy. He urged them to sustain the mobilisation efforts ahead of the election, stressing that victory would only be achieved through unity, commitment and hard work.
The APC candidate also unveiled key areas of focus for his administration if elected governor. He promised an inclusive government that would prioritise grassroots development and ensure that no community in Osun State would be neglected.
He pledged to make Agriculture more attractive and profitable by introducing programmes aimed at improving farmers’ productivity and livelihoods.
On Infrastructure and Power, Oyebamiji assured residents that his administration would work towards providing uninterrupted electricity across the state. According to him, plans are already underway to partner with a German power company to improve electricity supply once elected.
He further promised improved welfare packages for market women, teachers, commercial drivers, healthcare workers and other critical sectors, saying his administration would restore dignity to their professions and create an enabling environment for them to thrive.
With a promise to radically turn around the fortunes of Osun State if elected, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), kicked-off his campaign.
He promised an even development of the state instead of concentration of projects in a particular town.
Before unveiling his plan for a Greater Osun, Oyebamiji, alongside other party elders and leaders, visited the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi at his palace for royal blessings..
The monarch blessed the APC team and wished the candidate and his running mate, Kayode Adereti well in the August 15 election.
AMBO assured Oba Adeyeye of massive infrastructural development in Ile-Ife, saying he had mandated his team to assess the condition of the roads, and he has received the reports.
Oyebamiji promised: “When I become the governor, we will commence work on the Enuwa–Fajuyi Junction Road. We have also assessed the Ilare – Sabo Road and the Aderemi Road to Ondo Road.
“We will renovate all dilapidated primary schools in Ile-Ife. We also plan to establish a modern market befitting the status of Ile-Ife as the cradle of the Yoruba race. We want a magnificent market that will make anyone visiting from any part of the world recognise immediately that this is the cradle of the Yoruba race.”
Addressing a huge crowd of APC supporters at the campaign ground, Oyebamiji said: “Ooni is with us fully, he said the election will hold peacefully and AMBO will emerge as governor.”
Assuring that his administration will deliver quality Healthcare, he said: “We will take better care of Civil servants in ways they have never experienced before, especially teachers. We will invest heavily in their training so they can provide quality education to our children. Their capacity-building programmes will not be limited to Nigeria; we will also sponsor them for training abroad to expose them to global best practices in teaching.
“We are also working on plans to improve electricity supply across the state to support our artisans and other businesses that depend on power for their livelihoods. We have already begun discussions with a German company, which has indicated its readiness to generate 3.5 megawatts of electricity.
“We have reached an advanced stage in the discussions. The only thing left is for us to win the election, assume office and sign the agreement so that work can commence.”
“We will not display nepotism we will ensure even distribution of state resources across towns. We won’t deceive you. We won’t deceive you, like the present government that employed 80 per cent of indigenes of a particular town into the teaching service.”
“We will give farmers hybrid seeds that will increase output, our agriculture policy will encourage workers to embrace farming and turn Osun around through farming.
“Transport unions are our partners. We will assist your union to enhance your work to benefit your members and motorists.”
Oyebamiji acknowledged Senator Iyiola Omisore, who was not at the rally, as a leader and for his role within the party.
In their remarks, APC State Chairman Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council Director-General Oluwole Oke, National Commissioner, Federal Civil Service Dr. Festus Oyebade Olowogboyega among other leaders, urged the electorate to come out in large numbers to vote massively for Oyebamiji.
Oba Ogunwusi said: “I commend the example being set within the APC in reconciliation. Continue to remain united, I encourage you to see yourselves as one family.
The royal father warned against bloodshed before during and after the election, saying, “Politics should be conducted peacefully and smoothly. I beg you with my crown, on Election Day, vote peacefully.”
“We do not want bloodshed. Osun people are known for their virtues; let us set a good example. Let everything be peaceful. I do not want anyone carrying guns. The state is greater than any one of us. Politics will come and go, but Osun will remain.”
At the campaign rally were party chieftains like the APC Elders Caucus, led by Chief Sola Akinwumi; President Tinubu Senior Special Assistant on Protocol Ambassador Issa Niniola; Taofeek Ajilesoro; Taiwo Oluga; Senator Jide Omoworare; Hon. Nike Omoworare; ex-Commissioners Remi Omowaiye and Adebayo Adeleke, among others.
Speaking on the choice of Ile-Ife as the campaign’s starting point, the Director General of the Osun state governorship campaign council of APC, Honourable Busayo Oluwole Okey, said the party deliberately chose the ancient city because of its historical and cultural significance as the cradle of the Yoruba race and a symbol of unity and heritage.
