ABUJA – The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, has pledged to step up publicity for Federal Government policies after receiving the prestigious Fellowship of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
Alake received the honour at his office in Abuja on Tuesday in recognition of his outstanding contributions to strategic communication, ethical public engagement and national development.
Speaking after receiving the fellowship, the minister thanked ARCON for the recognition, saying effective communication remains key to good governance and national development.
He promised to intensify public enlightenment on government policies to ensure Nigerians are better informed about reforms in the solid minerals sector.
“This honour validates the important role of effective communication in public administration and strengthens our commitment to openness, accountability and sustained engagement with citizens, investors, host communities and other stakeholders in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda for the solid minerals sector,” Alake said.
Earlier, ARCON Director-General, Dr Olalekan Fadolapo, described the fellowship as a deserving recognition of Alake’s remarkable career in journalism, strategic communication and public service.
He said the minister had successfully deployed strategic communication to drive major reforms in the mining sector.
According to Fadolapo, Alake has combined policy innovation with effective public engagement to reposition the solid minerals sector as a major contributor to Nigeria’s economic diversification.
He noted that through transparent communication and regular stakeholder engagement, the ministry has boosted investor confidence, strengthened public trust and increased awareness of reforms aimed at tackling illegal mining, promoting mineral beneficiation, encouraging value addition and attracting responsible investments.
Fadolapo also praised Alake’s long-standing record in journalism and media practice, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most respected communication professionals whose commitment to professionalism and nation-building earned him the fellowship.
The ceremony was attended by top officials of ARCON, who said the award recognises Alake’s enduring contributions to the communications profession and public service.
