Two suspects have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to steal air conditioning units from the Agenda 111 Hospital at Bokoro in the Ahanta West Municipality, Western Region, after being caught before they could leave the hospital grounds.
Photos from the scene show three dismantled split-unit air conditioners lined up outside, alongside tools and a backpack, with the two suspects standing beside the equipment following their apprehension. They have since been handed over to police for further investigation.
The attempted theft adds to a troubling pattern of security breaches at Agenda 111 sites across Ghana, with similar cases previously reported at other project locations, including the arrest of four suspects in Awutu Bereku for stealing building materials meant for another Agenda 111 facility.
The Bokoro hospital itself has remained a source of local frustration, having stood incomplete and non-operational since its commissioning ahead of the 2025 political transition, with residents repeatedly petitioning government to finish and open the facility, and officials citing a funding gap of around $9 million needed for completion.
With the hospital still unoccupied and not fully secured, incidents like this highlight the vulnerability of stalled public infrastructure to theft while it awaits completion.
